You've found the perfect cottage for your vacation, but you want to do your homework to avoid scams and fraud. Here's a simple guide to validating a CITQ number.

1. Go to Bonjour Québec.
2. Enter the CITQ number you want to check in the search bar.
3. Then click on map and coordinates to validate the address and especially the telephone number to contact the legitimate owners.
4. Call and speak with the owner to make sure that it is indeed him or her that you are communicating with. ☎️.
Please note that sometimes a valid number is not found in the registry or the information may be incorrect. For example, a change of owner may take some time to update in the database. Also note that a CITQ number is not mandatory for a long-term rental property (31 days or more), or for a property considered a primary residence.
